2021 NFL Mock Draft: Justin Fields or Mac Jones at No. 3 overall?
By Brad Weiss
The Tennessee Titans pick at No. 22 in the first round, and there are several directions they could go. The Titans did see Adoree Jackson leave via free agency this offseason, leaving a hole at cornerback, so they could decide to bring in Asante Samuel Jr. here in the second half of the first round.
Samuel is the son of a former NFL star, and in Tennessee, he would slide right into the starting lineup. The Titans have the talent to make a run in the AFC, and have bolstered the defense already this offseason, so why not continue to stack talent on a unit that was a real issue in 2020.
Pick No. 23 belongs to the New York Jets, who will be making their second of two first-round picks this April. With the No. 2 pick, the Jets added a solid young quarterback in Zach Wilson, and here, they bring in a player who can be a real weapon for him in the run, and passing game.
Najee Harris is the perfect three-down running back for this franchise, as he can do so many wonderful things with a football in his hands. He is a downhill runner, has soft hands, and would be the playmaker this offense has been lacking at running back for some time now.
The Pittsburgh Steelers hold the No. 24 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and their goal has to be bringing in some protection for Ben Roethlisberger. While Big Ben is still a solid player, he does not move the way he used to, and that means the team must spend an early pick in 2021 on offensive tackle.
However, they also need help on the defensive side of the ball, specifically at cornerback, and that is the route they go here at pick No. 24. Greg Newsome from Northwestern is an outstanding defensive back and has the talent to start right away in Pittsburgh, so do not be surprised if he is the pick here at No. 24.
