Per ESPN’s Buster Olney, the New York Yankees and LA Angels discussed a potential Aaron Judge trade during the offseason.

Well, this would have been a move that would have completely turned MLB upside down, while also setting Twitter on fire. Aaron Judge no longer suiting up for the New York Yankees? That’s what the Los Angeles Angels were hoping for during the offseason.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the Angels and Yankees discussed a potential Judge trade before the 2021 campaign got underway. Could you imagine a lineup featuring Judge, Shohei Ohtani and superstar slugger Mike Trout? Goodness.

The Los Angeles Angels would have been stacked if they added Aaron Judge

Olney said the Angels and Yankees only had preliminary talks on Judge and nothing got to a point where anything was considered serious. You can rest easy, Yankees fans. At the same time, Olney did bring up a good point that soon enough New York will have to make a big decision on the right fielder.

Judge is under contract through the 2023 season, but will become a free agent after that. If he does enter free agency, every single team out there will have interest in trying to ink the home-run machine.

It’d be an understatement to say Judge has incredible power at the plate. New York of course wants to keep him in the Bronx for the rest of his career, but he’ll of course be wanting an earth-shattering deal. Will the club give it to him?

That’s a question we’ll have an answer for a little bit down the road. You better believe the LA Angels would surely be among the teams ready to reach out if Judge ends up looking for a new home in a couple years.
