San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had a hilarious response when head coach Kyle Shanahan gave a dark answer to a question about Jimmy Garoppolo.

The San Francisco 49ers can’t rely on Kyle Shanahan to give great answers to questions about Jimmy Garoppolo, but they can trust tight end George Kittle to come through with a perfect response.

On Monday, a reporter asked if Shanahan could guarantee Garoppolo would still be on the roster on Sunday. The head coach responded, “I can’t guarantee if anyone in the world will be alive on Sunday.”

Basically, it was just the most awkward response possible.

Fortunately, Kittle saved the day on Twitter.

It got even better as Old Takes Exposed made a note of the tweet.

Everyone wants Kittle to be alive come Sunday and many more days after that. Kudos to him for dishing such a hilarious retort. If he follows through and actually calls, it’ll only be more fun.

George Kittle and Jimmy Garoppolo may not be teammates come Sunday

While Kittle will get to spend the weekend kicking back and relaxing, probably wondering who will deliver passes for him in 2021, it’ll be a different sort of week for Shanahan and Garoppolo.

The 49ers have the No. 3 pick on Thursday. They’re reportedly down to a choice between Mac Jones and Trey Lance. No pressure there. It’s only the future of the franchise at stake.

Once Shanahan and company have made their pick, they’ll have seven more to work their way through as Friday and Saturday unfold.

As for Garoppolo, his future is obviously very much in doubt. Will he be traded once San Francisco has their man? Will the 49ers decided to keep him around while they groom his successor? He’s in limbo until those questions are answered.
