2. Allow someone to trade up and get “their guy”

One thing a team can never have too many of his selections. The more picks you have, the easier it is for you to move up to get a superstar talent.

There aren’t too many holes for the starting roster in Cleveland. Even though the defensive line class is weak, there still could be a player that’s a plug-in for Sheldon Richardson say on Day 2. So, say a standout offensive lineman falls or a premier pass-rusher?

Call up the phone lines and take the best offer.

Teams that want to better their offensive lines will always be willing to offer a tad more. Names like Texas’ Sam Cosmi, Oklahoma State’s Teven Jenkins and even Alabama’s Landon Dickerson all could be in play for teams looking to solidify the trenches. The Browns graded out with the No. 1 offensive line by Pro Football Focus and made it to the postseason for the first time in 18 years.

Need you say more?

More picks later on will allow Cleveland to move up in the draft. Although they’ll trade back, they’ll use that capital later on to get perhaps for franchise pieces instead of three. Should a player fall outside the realm of where they were supposed to, it’s a chance to Berry to garner more early.

The real stars are found on Day 2 and 3. Cleveland could grab a bundle of picks just move back a few spots.
