1. Have their pick of the litter for a star defensive player

Cleveland doesn’t have an immediate need at any position, but they could upgrade for the long-term future.Naturally, if it were to go in one direction, defensive tackle would be the top need at the moment following the release of Richardson.

The same could be said though for a cover linebacker. One could also argue the team should upgrade at cornerback with the uncertain status of Greedy Williams. If all three positions are available at No. 26, Berry has a good problem on his hands.

Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is another hybrid defender that can play in coverage like a safety and hit like a linebacker. Northwestern’s Greg Newsome only allowed 12 receptions all season. Alabama’s Christian Barmore is a bull-rushing defender up the middle that has great instincts when asked to play in a one-gap system.

Berry could’ve like to trade back and still get his guy. That, or he could just get the highest player on the big board. Instead of moving up, the Browns could have a multitude of options when selecting.

That alone is a GM’s dream early on.
