Tight ends

The Seahawks brought in Gerald Everett has a tight end in free agency, so they aren’t aching for immediate help at tight end.

That’s fine. That’s a situation the late rounds were made to take advantage of.

With Everett in place for the next year and Colby Parkinson entering his second season, Seattle can look to find a diamond in the rough in the seventh round.

Maybe that guy is Matt Bushman out of BUY?

Bushman was a beast for BYU in 2019. Unfortunately, his decision to return for the 2020 season backfired when he tore his Achilles tendon. The recovery from that injury went well enough for him to participate at the Cougar Pro Day, so that should assuage some worries about his long-term health.

There are cracks in his game, particularly as a blocker, but he never got the chance to prove he could grow beyond them in 2020. At 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, he’s a good enough pass-catcher to be interesting.

Georgia’s Tre’ McKitty successfully returned from an injury in 2020 and could also warrant a late look.

Unlike Bushman and McKitty, Notre Dame’s Tommy Tremble won’t be around when the sixth or seventh rounds arrive, but an earlier Day 3 selection would net the Seahawks more of a sure thing.
