1. Justin Fields (or any of the Top 5 QBs) free falls and is on the board at Pick No. 13

The obvious best-case scenario is Justin Fields slipping all the way to No. 20 therefore negated the need for Chicago to trade up.

But that’s not likely to happen, and the Bears need to be proactive.

Any of the Top 5 quarterbacks in the draft falling to the Bears at No. 20 would be beyond ideal. But given whispers that have grown into roars from the rumor mill that this will be a top heavy quarterback class, it’s looking unlikely that Chicago will get lucky.

If any of the Top 5 quarterbacks — specifically Justin Fields — are on the board when the Los Angeles Chargers are on the clock at No. 13 overall, Ryan Pace needs to pick up the phone.

After the Chargers pick, as many as five of the next six teams could take a quarterback. The Vikings and Patriots would likely jump at the chance to take Fields, Las Vegas and Miami both have quarterbacks but with giant question marks, and the Washington Football Team would feel ultimate vindication for passing on a QB last year to take Chase Young only to get a Top 5 talent at No. 19.

If the Bears want a quarterback of the future, and one starts to slide in the draft, a move needs to be made to get to the 13th pick.
