NFL Mock Draft: What happens if trades cause NFL-record run on QBs?
By Brad Weiss
The Arizona Cardinals are having a terrific offseason, and after barely missing out on the playoffs in 2020, they look poised to make a run this upcoming season. Kyler Murray has proven to be the right choice at No. 1 overall back in 2019, and after adding J.J. Watt to the defense, this group should be improved on both sides of the ball.
Looking at their roster, the Cardinals certainly need help at linebacker, and they can get the best one in this draft class in Micah Parsons this late in round one. Parsons is a classic three-down linebacker, and while he could fall in round one, he could end up being the Defensive Rookie of the Year before all is said and done.
The Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 17 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and they could certainly use help on both sides of the ball. This is a franchise that has been to the playoffs only once since the 2002 NFL season, and they have holes on their offensive line, as well as on the defensive side of the ball.
With this pick, they need to dip into a deep offensive tackle class, selecting Oklahoma State mauler Teven Jenkins to shore up the issue they have at right tackle. Jenkins played some right tackle for the Cowboys and would be a guy who can slide in and start right away along this Raiders offensive line.
The No. 18 pick belongs to the Miami Dolphins, who will be making their second first-round draft pick and will look to the defense. Looking at this Dolphins roster, there is a lot to like, and they are going to be in the mix for the AFC East title this upcoming season, but there are still issues on the defensive side of the ball.
With this pick, the Dolphins should look to add Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah from Notre Dame, one of the more versatile defensive players in this draft class. JOK is an elite cover guy, can play both linebacker and safety, and is one of the more sure-tacklers this class has to offer.
