8. Asante Samuel Jr., CB, Florida State

Similar to his namesake and father, Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots great Asante Samuel, the Florida State standout has some of the most dominant ball-skills of the cornerbacks in this year’s class.

After Jaycee Horn, Patrick Surtain, Caleb Farley, and Greg Newsome came off the board in Round 1, Samuel will provide a team with an immediate plug-and-play starting cornerback as an early second-round pick.

What Samuel lacks in size, at just 5-foot-10 and 184 pounds, he more than makes up for in his ability to knock away contested passes and with plenty of physicality.

Last season, according to Pro Football Focus, Samuel allowed 19 receptions on 32 targets, but intercepted three passes while allowing just one touchdown. Opposing quarterbacks produced a meager 46.2 passer rating when targeting Samuel, who PFF awarded a 81.8 coverage grade.

7. Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State

Interior line play is getting more and more difficult to identify in the NFL, but Teven Jenkinsis an aggressive mauler up front.

While he played right tackle at Oklahoma State, the 6-foot-5 and 320 pound former Cowboy might project better inside at the next level.

Sports Info Solutions points out that he allowed just one sack last season, and allowed pressure on just 28 percent of his pass-protection snaps. That kind of consistency will be welcomed along most offensive lines, and could make him an early second-round pick.
