2. Kadarius Toney, New York Giants

Giants fans had to wait around to see who they’d land in Round 1 after trading the No. 11 overall pick to Chicago early in the evening. As it turns out, it was worth the wait for New York. Landing Kadarius Toney at No. 20 could do wonders for New York’s offense in 2021.

Toney is a perfect fit alongside new acquisition Kenny Golladay for the team’s receiving corps. The former Florida standout needs to refine his route-running skills at the next level, but he’s a lethal playmaker whenever he gets the ball in his hands. He’s got the ability to turn short, boring throws into long, exciting touchdowns when he gets the ball in space.

Justin Jefferson drastically outproduced his draft spot at receiver in last year’s class, and Toney is a guy who can do the same thing this year. He’s going to get a ton of chances to work against one-on-one coverage working next to Golladay in the slot. Opposing defenses will find it really difficult to cover both Toney and Saquon Barkley on short throws near the line of scrimmage.

Dave Gettleman doesn’t get much love from the media for his personnel moves, but he deserves plaudits for landing Toney at 20. He’s one of the most dangerous players in his class whenever the ball lands in his hands. The extra dimension he’ll add to the Giants’ offense in 2021 will be readily apparent when the regular season kicks off.
