Kentucky. Jamin Davis. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. 19. 58

There were two main areas of need projected for Washington outside of quarterback. One of those was at linebacker, so the pick of Jamin Davis certainly addresses one of those needs.

Davis has been a rapid riser in the pre-draft process, beginning the cycle as a potential third-round pick before a series of strong workouts elevated his stock. Washington jumped all over Davis at 19, a place that is a bit of a reach given his track record as a college player.

There was better value for the Football Team at linebacker with Notre Dame’s Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, a player who was widely attached to them in mock drafts. Washington also opted to ignore a glaring need at left tackle, which has been an issue since they traded Trent Williams last year, to reach for Davis at 19.

The best move for Washington would have been to deal back about seven or eight picks if they were locked in on Davis as the best fit for their defense. Selecting him at 19 is not the best utilization of assets for the Football Team as they try to defend their NFC East crown in 2021.
