1. Stay put and take Trey Lance

Hurts might be the long-term solution for the Eagles at quarterback, but the organization can’t be sure of that outcome at this point after not guaranteeing him the starting job. That makes doubling down on the quarterback position the prudent play for Philadelphia in Round 1.

Both Trey Lance and Justin Fields have a chance to fall to the Eagles at No. 12. Lance is the better fit for Philadelphia due to his ability to handle running the ball more often with his exceptional size. His rushing ability can help Philadelphia overcome their lack of talent at the skill positions.

Of course, Lance also has the elite arm strength required to stretch the field early in his professional career. He doesn’t need to be overly accurate to access Reagor on deep throws. He could make an immediate impact for Philadelphia similar to what Josh Allen gave Buffalo as a rookie.

Some Eagles fans might criticize the team for drafting a player over Hurts so quickly, but the rebuild in Philadelphia can’t truly begin until they acquire a potential star at quarterback. Drafting Lance would significantly increase the chances of the Eagles having that type of player on their roster in 2021.
