Getting Dak Prescott a new weapon

With Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup well established as receiving targets for Dak Prescott, the Cowboys didn’t need to spend a draft pick on a receiver.

The fact that they did is just a plus for the quarterback.

Simi Fehoko is exactly the type of prospect worth taking a chance on in the fifth-round of a deep receiver class. He has something none of those other receivers can boast: 6-foot-4 length. Running a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash at that size is ridiculous.

He made it to the fifth round because his college production doesn’t stand out. He had 566 yards in 2019 and 574 in 2020, though that latter number came in just six games. Stanford’s offense isn’t built for wide receivers to put up gaudy numbers, so it says something that he averaged 18.5 yards per catch during his career.

At worst, Fehoko should be a solid fourth option. At best, he could give Prescott an entirely different kind of weapon to exploit with his unique combination of speed and size.

When you’re trying to climb the mountain and contend with other elite offenses in the NFL, something having a target like Fehoko is the difference.
