2021 NFL Draft winners: 10 teams that crushed it
Cleveland Browns
The Browns did not have much in the way of needs heading into the draft, freeing them up to take the best player available, and that strategy served them very well as they added yet more quality depth to one of the AFC’s deepest rosters.
Greg Newsome II could form an exciting cornerback tandem with Denzel Ward after falling into their grasp with the 26th pick. His awareness, athletic ability and cover skills in both man and zone should greatly improve the secondary, while linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah provides position-less versatility and, more importantly, speed that was all too lacking during their playoff defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs last season.
More speed arrived in the form of third-rounder Anthony Schwartz at wide receiver, which the Browns also addressed with their final pick by adding wideout/running back hybrid Demetric Felton.
Tommy Togiai was a bonafide steal in the fourth round and can fill the void left by Larry Ogunjobi’s departure to the Cincinnati Bengals. Expect him to thrive playing on the same front as Myles Garrett when the opportunity comes.
Cleveland did not disappoint as a host city for the draft, and the hometown fans should be very happy with the Browns’ haul.
