2021 NFL Draft winners: 10 teams that crushed it
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers will once again spend the next few months as the team everybody hypes up after they did a magnificent job of building the team around Offensive Rookie of the Year quarterback Justin Herbert.
He will have the benefit of significantly improved protection as the Chargers were able to somehow land Rashawn Slater with the 13th overall pick. While there are some doubts over Slater connected to archaic concerns over his arm length, he was arguably the most pro-ready tackle in the class ahead of Oregon star Penei Sewell.
Asante Samuel Jr. could hardly be a more perfect fit for Brandon Staley’s defense and can be moved around the secondary due to his ability to play in the slot as well as on the outside.
Late riser Josh Palmer was perhaps something of a reach in the third round but Tre’ McKitty offers athletic upside at the tight end position while Chris Rumph II can contribute early as a rotational edge rusher to provide support to Joey Bosa and Uchenna Nwosu.
The Chargers have their franchise quarterback, an innovative defensive coach, and continue stacking talent. After acing this draft, they appear primed to at least challenge the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.
