Washington Football Team

Washington may still lack a franchise quarterback but the Football Team’s roster looks increasingly well-rounded after an excellent draft.

Uber-athletic linebacker Jamin Davis should thrive playing behind Washington’s stacked front four. Samuel Cosmi should be a day-one starter at tackle and Dyami Brown is an outstanding value in the third round as a deep threat who can complement Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel excellently.

Fifth-round safety Darrick Forrest brings an intriguing blend of athleticism, versatility and downhill thump against the run game, and seventh-round edge rushers William Bradley-King and Shaka Toney each have a shot to make the roster.

Even with the final pick of the draft, Washington was able to land an intriguing receiver prospect, BYU’s Dax Milne, whose downfield prowess and ability to adjust to balls at the catch point proved a significant aid to Zach Wilson as he surged up the board with an outstanding 2020 season.

Washington was perhaps a year early in reaching the playoffs last season but, if either Ryan Fitzpatrick or Taylor Heinicke can provide competent and consistent quarterback play in 2021, they should be a threat to reach the postseason again after a hugely impressive draft on both sides of the ball.
