Recently, the Browns parted ways with eight-year veteran interior presence Sheldon Richardson. He spent two seasons in Cleveland after a year in Minnesota. The 2013 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year was the 13th overall pick by the Jets in 2013, was dealt to Seattle in ’17 and signed with the Vikings the following year before joining the Browns.

He comes off a year in which he started all 16 games, finishing with 64 tackles and 4.5 sacks while knocking down three passes. If he’s not re-signed, the talented defender will be missed along a defensive front that features Myles Garrett while adding veterans Jadeveon Clowney and Malik Jackson this offseason.

As previously mentioned, general managed Andrew Berry stressed defense this offseason and early in Round 4 Cleveland turned to the school within the state and used a fourth-round pick on Ohio State interior presence Tommy Togiai.

“We think he’s a very good run player, obviously in a division that is a physical division in general,” said director of player personnel Dan Saganey (via Nathan Baird of Cleveland.com). “We think there’s upside as a pass rusher for him as well. He’s a good, powerful, explosive and quick guy to add to the room.”
