1. Justin Fields

Fields has a legitimate chance to finally give Chicago the star they’ve been searching for at quarterback for years. That high-end potential alone makes him well worth the price required to move up to take him at No. 11.

If Fields turns out to be a high-level starter, the move is going to look like grand larceny in retrospect. He’s an elite athlete with the mobility to threaten opposing defenses on the edge via Nagy’s rollout game. Perhaps more importantly, he’s got above-average accuracy inside the pocket that should unlock Chicago’s aerial attack.

The Bears say Fields won’t be the starter Week 1 over Andy Dalton, but it’s only a matter of time before he displaces the veteran as the leader of the team’s offense. The franchise will try to temper expectations for the former Ohio State standout, but they can’t keep the lid on his prodigious talent for too long.

Landing Fields at 11 might be the single best pick of the entire 2021 NFL Draft. The Bears’ front office deserves a lot of credit for engineering the move. Now it’s time for them to let Fields drastically change the complexion of their offense the minute he steps under center.
