1. Trevon Moehrig

The final spot on this list actually goes to a player who wasn’t overdrafted by Las Vegas. Landing Moehrig in Round 2 was undeniably the Raiders’ best pick of the weekend. He should emerge as an immediate starter for Gus Bradley’s defense.

Moehrig may not be a big hitter, but he gives the Raiders an elite coverage safety to work with. He showed great range in both man and zone coverage schemes at TCU. He’s an ideal fit to flourish in Bradley’s three-deep coverage schemes.

Moehrig could have easily gone off the board late in Round 1 to a contending team looking for an upgrade in the final third. The Raiders were smart to snatch him up when he fall all the way down to No. 43. Safety isn’t the most valuable position in the modern NFL, but grabbing a potential Pro Bowler in Round 2 is still good business for Las Vegas.

The problem for Moehrig is that he needs to become a superstar to make up for all of the team’s other draft missteps. That puts a ton of pressure on the former TCU star to succeed right away as a rookie. He might falter a bit under that pressure early in his career, but he should be a solid starter after a few weeks of NFL football.
