The Toronto Maple Leafs have what it takes to bring the Stanley Cup home to Toronto for the first time since 1967.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the NHL’s most storied franchises. Their 13 Stanley Cups rank second among all franchises, trailing only the Montreal Canadiens. However, the Leafs haven’t won a single league title since 1967. In the modern era, Toronto hasn’t won a single Stanley Cup, or even gone to a Stanley Cup Final.

This year’s Maple Leafs squad is looking to change that. From top to bottom, this is the arguably the most talented roster the Leafs have ever iced.

It’s at least their most talented in the modern era. Entering May 3, they have their highest point percentage (.696) in the modern era. They’ve already clinched a spot in the postseason and it’s quite likely they’ll win their first division title since 2000.

Why the Maple Leafs will win

But it’s not about regular season success for the Maple Leafs. They’re clearly in it to win it. Most of their core has been together for the past six seasons and they have no postseason series wins to show for it. Anything less than a Stanley Cup could bring about significant changes.

This season might be a shortened season, but the Stanley Cup wouldn’t come with an asterisk. A Stanley Cup win would mean the world for Leafs fans. They’ve waited their entire lives to celebrate a Leafs Stanley Cup win. Toronto showed the heck up to the Toronto Raptors celebration, just imagine how crazy it will be if the Leafs win.

It’s tough as heck to win the Stanley Cup. Rarely do the best teams during the regular season pull it off. But the Leafs have all the ingredients necessary for the Stanley Cup recipe. It’s all up to the players and their coaches now. Let’s look at why they’re going to win the Stanley Cup.
