1. CB Nahshon Wright (Oregon State)

Only four clubs in the NFL gave up more points and also allowed a whopping 54 offensive touchdowns this past season. The Dallas Cowboys struggled to stop the run and consequently, that had an effect on the entire defense. While Mike McCarthy’s club was ranked 11th in the league vs. the pass, it gave up 34 scores through the air.

In free agency, the team signed former Falcons’ safeties Keanu Neal and Damontae Kazee – although the former will be making the transition to weak side linebacker. During the 2021 draft, the organization addressed the secondary three times.

Oregon State’s Nahshon Wright (via Ben Grimaldi of CowboysWire.com) bears watching after the team used a third-round pick on the young performer. He played in 16 games for the Beavers the past two seasons and picked off five passes despite that limited action.

The team has lost its share of defensive backs to free agency in recent seasons. In 2020, Byron Jones got big money from the Miami Dolphins. This offseason, the club saw corner Chidobe Awuzie latch on with the Bengals and safety Xavier Woods ink a deal with the Vikings. The Cowboys need their young members of the secondary to step up.
