Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. . player. 135. AL West. Houston Astros. 4

Entering Thursday, the Houston Astros were no better than mid-pack in the AL in power metrics from their DH group. Yordan Alvarez appears to be getting on track in the power department, with two home runs against the Yankees on Thursday. But Pujols could be a part-time platoon partner, and perhaps more importantly, a veteran mentor for the 2019 Rookie of the Year. The hitter-friendly setting at Minute Maid Park would help Pujols succeed when he did get in the lineup.

Scouting Report. . player. Pick Analysis. AL East. Toronto Blue Jays. 3. 39

The Toronto Blue Jays have been without marquee free-agent signing George Springer for most of the season to this point, and the shuffling around to fill the void has thinned the lineup options. Rowdy Tellez was demoted to the team’s alternate site at the end of April, as his 21-homer burst in 2019 looks more like it could be a power exception.

The Blue Jays could use another bat right now, even a part-timer that would almost solely face lefties as Pujols should. Expectations often drive moves, and signing Pujols to provide some help to the offense would fit that for the Blue Jays. Hitting in the hitter-friendly parks within the AL East would help him provide some actual value as a power hitter.
