The Indianapolis Colts drafted defensive linemen with their first two picks in the draft, so it’s clear they’re ready to move on from 32-year-old defensive end Justin Houston. They may be done with Houston, but there’s no way he’s done with terrorizing quarterbacks.

The Cowboys could turn Houston loose in the NFC East if they’re willing to take the plunge.

At his peak, Houston was capable of leading the league in sacks, posting 22 in 2014. He is a four-time Pro Bowler and one of the more consistent ends in the league over the past decade. Obviously, his best days are behind him. That doesn’t mean he can’t make a difference.

Houston had eight sacks, 12 quarterback hits and two safeties in 2020. The guy can still play.

Dallas has invested some assets into the defensive end spot. They drafted Osa Odighizuwa from UCLA and Chauncey Golston out of Iowa in the third round, so they may not be eager to throw a bunch of money Houston’s way.

However, now that they’ve gone all-in with Dak Prescott, the defense needs to catch up to the level of the offense and quick. Houston would help with that.
