42. QB. Nick Mullens. player. San Francisco 49ers. 1.. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Okay, now we enter the crisis portion of this piece. What if the Packers are left with no choice but to trade Rodgers? While the Packers do have faith in Love being their quarterback of the future, they cannot throw him onto the field if he is not ready.

When looking at the remaining quarterbacks in free agency, they are far from enticing. The best possible option on the open market is former San Francisco 49ers signal caller Nick Mullens.

Sure, Mullens was an undrafted free agent out of Southern Mississippi, but he had plenty of starts during his time in the Bay Area due the numerous injuries suffered by Jimmy Garoppolo. Mullens has started 16 games in his three-year NFL career and has accumulated a 5-11 record. That may not be the greatest record, but a backup quarterback winning five starts is still pretty impressive.

Overall, Mullens has thrown for 4,714 yards, 25 touchdowns and 22 interceptions on a 64.5 completion percentage.

If Rodgers is traded to another team, Love would be the only quarterback on the roster. Is Love ready to start under center at Lambeau Field? That is still anyone’s guess. But they simply need to bring in a backup like Mullens to serve as a bridge quarterback between Rodgers and Love if we reach that destination.
