Red Sox lead the majors in runs and hits

In addition to being No. 1 in the bigs in batting average, the offense also is No. 1 in both runs and hits. Following the 4-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon, Boston has 312 hits on the campaign and has scored 183 runs. They’ve done so in only 35 games, which is absolutely insane to even think about. It just shows how great they’ve been.

While Martinez and Bogaerts have gotten plenty of love for their performances, they’re surely not the only ones who have impressed at the plate. Alex Verdugo, Rafael Devers, Christian Vazquez, Enrique Hernandez and others have come up with some timely hits throughout the campaign. It’s obviously been amazing to see for skipper Alex Cora.

With Cora back in town, it really feels like Boston is back to its old self. The folks who make their way to Fenway Park love the 2021 product, with the offense capable of exploding on any game. The pitching has been solid too, but it’s the offense that has really made an impact above anything else.

You’ve got to almost feel bad for opposing pitchers at this point. How can you try and slow down this loaded lineup? It’s an incredibly difficult task, but that’s not for Cora to worry about. Instead, you know he’s all smiles knowing just how well his guys are playing. Boston looks ready to compete for a World Series this year. After the first three games of the season, no one was thinking about that.
