5 reasons Brooklyn Nets can win 2021 NBA championship
1. Nets can outscore opponents at will
One potential narrative surrounding the Nets could be that the team allows too many points to be a legitimate contender. They are giving up 114.6 points per game (23rd) and 113.3 points per 100 possessions (23rd).
Conversely, the Nets are averaging 118.6 points per game on offense, and their 117.1 points per 100 possessions makes them the highest-scoring offense in NBA history, easily surpassing the Dallas Mavericks’ record-setting mark of 115.9 last year. So this may be a situation where there is no chance of outscoring Brooklyn four times in a seven-game series.
It is entirely possible for Irving, Durant or Harden to go for 30 points on any given night. All three reaching that mark is also not impossible if Harden is out there spreading the ball around in addition to getting his own.
Harris is also a lethal shooter from deep, and the likes of Jordan and Griffin can add threats in the paint. Want a quicker lineup to guard the shooters? The Nets have a counter for just about anything with three legitimate stars and plenty of great role players at their disposal.
The overall key to success for this team is health. The Nets could still realistically win the title with only two of the three stars healthy. But the full trio? It would take an uncharacteristic set of performances to beat them four times in a series.
