Alex Caruso sends message to haters who disrespected Anthony Davis
By John Buhler
Alex Caruso has a message to all the Anthony Davis haters out there in the world.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso has his teammate Anthony Davis’ back no matter what.
Throughout the Lakers’ quest to repeat as NBA champions this season, Davis has been largely scrutinized for his inability to stay healthy, especially with his other superstar teammate LeBron James dealing with injuries himself. Some people have labeled Davis as soft, but Caruso is not buying that one bit. In fact, he believes Davis is about to play his best ball come playoff time.
“I can’t speak for him personally, but I know I’ve heard a lot of chit chat, some tweets, some words around the world about ‘AD is so soft and he’s falling all over the place,’ and guys got to understand they’ve just got to give him a couple games to get his feet under him,” said Caruso. “The beast is waking up, as everybody can tell.
“Last game he looked more like himself. This game he’s doing reverse dunks to finish the game. We’re starting to see vintage AD, and he’s rounding into form.”
Lakers: Alex Caruso believes “the beast is waking up” inside of Anthony Davis
Look. The dang beast supposedly living inside of Davis better wake up. The Lakers have four games left in the 2020-21 NBA regular season. Los Angeles is a game back of the Portland Trail Blazers for the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. While they have a relatively favorable draw the rest of the way, the Lakers will almost certainly have to deal with the play-in tournament.
The Lakers will probably be the seventh-place team and face the Golden State Warriors in the No. 7 vs. No. 8 game. That game clinches the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. While the loser of that game is not eliminated from the playoffs, their postseason lives are on the line, as they would take on the winner of the No. 9 vs. No. 10 game for the right to be the No. 8 seed in this summer.
It does not matter what label is placed on Davis, he has to play like a star for the Lakers to win big.
