Albert Almora Jr. has perfect tweet after violent outfield collision
- Albert Almora Jr. sent out a great tweet after leaving Tuesday’s game following a nasty collision with the outfield wall.
A truly scary moment occurred Tuesday night as the New York Mets took on the Baltimore Orioles. Albert Almora Jr. was chasing a fly-ball and appeared to make the catch, only to slam headfirst into the center field wall and drop the ball.
He immediately collapsed to the ground and was holding his head. Almora did walk off the field on his own and recovered enough to send out the perfect tweet later in the night.
Albert Almora Jr. makes it clear he made the catch
The collision itself was brutal and it is amazing Almora was able to avoid serious injury.
He did appear to make the catch, but the video proves he did not hold on long enough to get the out. That is just fine because no one could have reasonably expected him to slam into the wall like that and hold onto the ball.
Such a collision brings fears of a head injury. Instead, Almora is now out with a shoulder contusion. That is arguably some good news after watching the video.
Professional athletes having social media creates scenarios like this where humor can be found in tough circumstances. The good news is that Almora avoided anything catastrophic and according to him, he got robbed of the catch.
The Mets also won the game in walk-off fashion so morale remains high in that clubhouse.
