AFC West . Los Angeles Chargers . player. 13. 1. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis.

Both Los Angeles and Denver feel a step below Kansas City, so saying that the Broncos have to beat Patrick Mahomes feels a little too much. That doesn’t mean it’s too much to say they need to beat Los Angeles at least once in 2021.

Much like how Denver spent the entire offseason fixing its defense, Chargers GM Tom Telesco did the same thing for his young quarterback and the offense. Justin Herbert was one of the most pressured quarterbacks last season, so Los Angeles bolstered its offensive line. The hope is All-Pro Corey Linsley, plus former Steelers Matt Feiler and Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater can figure it out.

Los Angeles saw Herbert reset the passing record for rookie QBs. Will he have a sophomore slump? Will it be a progression with a new head coach and offensive coordinator? Although the Chargers spent the off-season improving, are they a season away.

Depending on when the games are played, it could bode well in Denver’s favor.  Having a December game in snow might throw Herbert off his rhythm, forcing the line to do most of the work. Lock should have an advantage and the run game for the Broncos is improved.

It feels like Los Angeles in Denver or neck and neck in line for that No. 2 spot. Winning both matchups almost guarantees that team will be a postseason contender and the other will be eliminated altogether.
