1. Vs. Buffalo Bills
The most important game on Kansas City’s 2021 schedule is their AFC Championship Game rematch with the Buffalo Bills. That game was a laugher for the Chiefs thanks in part to some questionable coaching decisions from Sean McDermott, who went conservative after playing aggressively for most of the season.
The Bills are a team that matches up very well with the Chiefs on paper and now have the motivation of last season’s AFC title game as fuel for the rematch. Having the game come at Arrowhead Stadium is a help but finding a way to win it is imperative for Kansas City in terms of playoff positioning.
Buffalo has a tremendous shot to repeat in the AFC East and could secure a head-to-head tiebreaker with a win at Arrowhead, potentially forcing Kansas City to go on the road in a playoff rematch. A win would also be huge for the Bills’ psyche to provide proof that they can go toe-to-toe with Mahomes and win.
This will be the ultimate measuring-stick game for the Chiefs this season since their NFC schedule is loaded with games against the weak NFC East. There is no question that their home date with Buffalo is the most important contest that Kansas City has to find a way to win this season.
