Miami Dolphins 2021 NFL Schedule: 5 must-win games
Last season, Week 17 stopped the Dolphins for making the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Tagovailoa looked abysmal against the Bills’ secondary in Orchard Park, throwing three interceptions and averaging 6.2 yards per throw. It was the end of the line for the rebuilding Dolphins to show they were a contender.
The difference is that everyone thought it would take a year for Miami to get to where they were. Now they’re on arrival time, so there’s no excuse for losing this season.
The battle for QB1 in the AFC East might go between these two clubs for years. In years 2 and 3, Josh Allen went from looking lost to becoming a near-MVP and leading the Bills back to glory. With the help of new QB coach Charlie Frye, maybe Tagovailoa will see the same improvement.
Much like the Bills in 2020, Miami also upgraded their No. 1 receiver. Fuller has vertical speed while Waddle might have the most upside of any target in the 2021 class due to his hands and speed inside.
One — if not both — should be options and upgrades over DeVante Parker.
If the New England Patriots are no longer the x-factor team, one of these two franchises can run division for the next decade. Even in a split series, showing competition against the team to beat might be enough to give Miami the boost come postseason.
