Game of the WeekBills at Chiefs

A rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game, and the third matchup of these two teams in the last two campaigns. In 2020, it was the Chiefs winning both games with relative ease. Now, Buffalo comes back with almost the exact same team, trying to dethrone Kansas City.

If the Bills are going to usurp the Chiefs as the top AFC team, it starts with Josh Allen having another top-tier season. Last year, Allen finished as the Second-Team All-Pro quarterback, tied for the honor (with two votes apiece) with Patrick Mahomes. Allen and receiver Stefon Diggs had a special chemistry, with Diggs leading the league in receiving yards.

In Kansas City, much has changed. Out are tackles Eric Fisher and Mitch Schwartz, while general manager Brett Veach has added left tackle Orlando Brown, guards Joe Thuney, Trey Smith and Kyle Long, and centers Creed Humphrey and Austin Blythe. Of course, the main crux of the perennial contender remains the same, with Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and receiver Tyreek Hill causing issues for defenses.

A win here for Buffalo would be immense both for confidence and in the standings. Meanwhile, the Chiefs finding a way would further establish them as the clear favorite.
