Game of the Week: Ravens at Chargers

Two of the game’s best quarterbacks match up in this October clash.

The Chargers went 7-9 last year but watched rookie signal-caller Justin Herbert take home NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award honors, throwing for more than 4,300 yards in 15 games. The youngster is surrounded by quality weapons including receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, tight end Jared Cook and running back Austin Ekeler. Even more importantly, Los Angeles rebuilt a porous offensive line, signing guard Matt Feiler and center Corey Linsley while selecting left tackle Rashawn Slater in the first round.

In Baltimore, the talk is about taking back the AFC North after watching it fall to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020. The Ravens had a tough offseason, trading away tackle Orlando Brown after losing edge rushers Yannick Ngakoue and Matt Judon in free agency.

If Lamar Jackson can recapture the magic that saw him win the MVP award unanimously in 2019, the Ravens are back among the AFC elite. If not, it will be a major challenge to win the North. Beating the Chargers would be a big step in said direction.
