New Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer made it clear the team hasn’t signed Tim Tebow yet, but the interest is most definitely there.

Ever since it was revealed that Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars were potentially signing former quarterback Tim Tebow as a tight end, people have been ripping the organization for it. Seriously, Tebow, who had been previously bouncing around the minors in baseball, is getting another NFL shot?

Well, hold the phone, as Meyer made it clear no contract has been signed just yet. With that said, the first-year Jacksonville coach came out and said on the Cris Collinsworth Podcast that there’s definitely interest there, with Tebow’s outstanding work ethic being a big reason why.

Urban Meyer is ready to see what new tight end Tim Tebow can do for the Jaguars

“We have not signed Tim,” Meyer said via 247Sports. “There’s a thought going around. He was in the best shape of his life. Asked to see if he could work out with a couple of our coaches. I wasn’t even there. They came back to me and said, ‘Wow. This guy is in incredible shape.’ I went another time and watched them try him out. They said, ‘Go work on these things.’ He comes back later and they try him out again. I’m not there.

“They come in and say, ‘Wow, this guy has ball skills. He’s a great athlete. He looks like he’s 18-years-old and not 33. I said, ‘Guys, you don’t understand. This guy is the most competitive maniac you’re ever going to talk to, so let’s give it a shot.’ I have not decided if we’re going to do that or not yet. Getting close. I’ve got to make a decision here pretty soon.”

As soon as Meyer’s decision does come in, you better believe folks are going to go wild all over social media. If Tebow does get a chance in Jacksonville, he’ll have to convince his haters that this isn’t some kind of side show and he’s for real.

Remember, Tebow has been out of the NFL since 2015, last being part of the Eagles organization. Six years later, he’s hoping Jacksonville will give him potentially his last shot. We’ll see if it comes.
