Utes coach Craig Smith had a rough first off-season, losing eight players while bringing in four.

Losses:

  • Timmy Allen SF to Texas: 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists/game.
  • Alfonso Plummer PG to Illinois: 13.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1 assist/game.
  • Pelle Larsson PG to Arizona: 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists/game.
  • Ian Martinez SG to Maryland: 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1 assist/game.
  • Rylan Jones PG to Utah State: 4.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 4 assists/game.
  • Jordan Kellier SG to Siena: 1.3 points and 1 rebound/game.
  • Brendan Wenzel SG to Wyoming: 1.5 rebounds/game.

Additions:

Analysis:

Allen was first-team All Pac-12 and led the Utes in points, rebounds and assists.

Plummer hit 38 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Larsson was third in the Pac-12, hitting 50 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Martinez came in hyped as a four-star recruit.

Jones also came in with much hype as the high school player of the year in Utah.
