College football post-spring Top 25 power rankings: Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State ahead of the pack
Post-spring College Football Rankings No. 2: Oklahoma Sooners
Anyone watching Oklahoma at the end of the 2020 season can attest to the fact that the Sooners were one of the four best teams in college football by the end of the year. It’s just that some early-season trip-ups cost them a shot at the playoff. With Spencer Rattler returning to lead the charge in 2021, though, Lincoln Riley’s team has their best chance in his tenure to not just make the CFB but compete for a National Championship.
The Sooners have one of the most dangerous wide receiver groups in the country with Marvin Mims, Theo Wease and a hopefully healthy Jadon Haselwood. Factor in the return of Kennedy Brooks in the backfield and the fact that Alex Grinch has the defense on the rise with star Nik Bonitto leading the way and Oklahoma is a clear-cut contender.
Post-spring College Football Rankings No. 1: Alabama Crimson Tide
Not that anyone expected anything different, but sophomore quarterback Bryce Young looked more than ready to take over for Mac Jones at the Alabama spring game and, more importantly, the weapons look ready to step up as well. John Metchie and Agiye Hall looked like studs while Jahleel Billingsley could be a breakout star.
Even more impressive about Young’s standout showing, though, was that the Crimson Tide defense might be the best he sees all year. Alabama has loaded up on talent, as per usual, on that side of the ball and they looked downright dominant in the spring. Par for the course for the program under Nick Saban, Bama still looks like the team to beat.
