The latest Heisman Trophy odds suggest who will become the Ohio State football program’s next starting quarterback.

Ryan Day may not be willing to tell us who the next starting quarterback of the Ohio State football team will be, but the latest 2021 Heisman Trophy betting odds do reveal a big hint at it.

For the last two seasons, Day has not needed to worry about who his starting quarterback would be. With former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields transferring in ahead of his sophomore season, the choice was obvious. Day had the luxury of starting the five-star from Kennesaw right from day one of his head-coaching career. However, he does have a huge decision to make. Who will it be?

It is not by much, but CJ Stroud has better Heisman odds at +2250 over Jack Miller III at +3000. While it makes total sense that Day should keep his decision close to the vest to avoid either quarterback transferring during the summer if he does not win the job, Stroud supposedly performed better in spring practice and had a better stat line during the Buckeyes’ spring game.

Even though the other quarterback fighting for the job in Kyle McCord does not have Heisman Trophy odds listed, that is not really an issue here. He is a true freshman and an incoming five-star. His best shot to win the job is next spring and not right now. Frankly, Stroud should be the Buckeyes’ Week 1 starter because he proven a more consistent passer over Miller this spring.

While Stroud will not be Fields for Ohio State, he does give the Buckeyes the best shot a title.
