Garrett Wilson will be a first-round pick when he decides to go pro

Had Williams played for any other Power 5 program in the country, he would not be the at-best No. 3 wide receiver on the depth chart. Factor in the emergence of Marvin Harrison Jr. in spring practice and Williams ended up transferring to Alabama. The first guy we are going to talk about from the Ohio State wide receiver room is Garrett Wilson. He might be their best player.

Wilson would probably go in the first round if he were to declare after the 2021 college football season. Even if an NFL team could get great value on a wide receiver prospect in day two, he projects as a first-rounder going away, possibly cracking the top eight as the first wide receiver off the board this spring. Of course, this is all contingent on him leaving Columbus after this season.

Chris Olave could have been a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft

Of all the players who decided to return to school after the 2020 college football season, Chris Olave going back to Ohio State was certainly the strangest. He would have been in all likelihood a first-round pick last year, and that was in an NFL Draft that prominently featured DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle out of Alabama, as well as Ja’Marr Chase out of LSU after having opted out.

Olave returns to Columbus as the most accomplished receiver in the Big Ten. There are two reasons why he edges out perhaps a more talented Wilson for the top spot. One, Ohio State ushers in a new quarterback this fall, meaning the more experienced receiver has the edge. And two, there are no guarantees that Wilson will enter the draft, while this is Olave’s last season.

Look for the Ohio State football program to be well represented in the 2022 NFL Draft.
