1. Allow Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. to shine in the spotlight

The Grizzlies are like the New York Knicks in a way this postseason. Both teams have not been able to lure top free agents to town in recent years. While New York is obviously a much more attractive market than Memphis, a great showing by the Grizzlies’ young core could change public perception very quickly.

Specifically in Memphis, players around the NBA can watch Wednesday’s game and see Morant and Jackson ball out, as they do. A free agent may like the idea of playing on a team where the young star is a master facilitator if they impress in a high-octane playoff environment

The team is lacking a true superstar (for now) but could also intrigue some current stars out there. This Grizzlies team is close to being a contender, and any star that arrived would instantly boost the team up the standings.

Players will not want to take that kind of leap of faith if the young core fails to step up to the moment. That is why this goal may be the most important of all. The Grizzlies have never finished higher than a 4-seed in any season. Landing another star to play with cornerstone guys like Morant and Jackson could change the landscape of the Western Conference.
