CC Sabathia’s rant on Tony La Russa managing the Chicago White Sox is an all-timer.

It may have been one of the most profanity-laden podcasting tirades in the history of the medium, but my god, CC Sabathia absolutely body-bagged Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa.

Sabathia teed off on La Russa on The Ringer’s R2C2 podcast with Ryan Ruocco. This was a man who said all the things we wish we had the stones to say on a public medium. Sabathia will join La Russa in Cooperstown one day very soon, and that will be so unbelievably awkward. Then again, La Russa may be too out-of-touch to know Sabathia has a podcast on The Ringer with Ruocco.

Enjoy the best two-and-half minutes you will have ever experienced since discovering punk rock.

CC Sabathia rakes Tony La Russa over the coals for his managerial style

There is a reason why the unwritten rules of baseball remain unwritten; because they deeply stupid. As long as a pitcher is trying to get a batter out, a hitter should have no issue trying to score runs off him. If you want to implement a youth sports mercy rule in professional baseball, give me a break. If you can’t handle defeat at this point of your career, then just give up and cry.

The shame in it all is the White Sox are arguably the best team in the American League right now. This is team more than capable of winning its first World Series championship since 2015, and we are wasting our times talking about the ethics of the unwritten rules of baseball. So much has changed in the big leagues since La Russa last managed the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals. CC is right.

No sugar high will give ever you the rush quite like Sabathia’s complete takedown of La Russa.
