The Golden State Warriors may have lost, but at least Steph Curry won on the internet.

Steph Curry channeled his inner Alonzo Mourning during the Golden State Warriors play-in tournament game loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Golden State fell Staples Center to the Lakers in the No. 7 vs. No. 8 play-in tournament game on Wednesday, 103-100. Curry may have scored 37 points on 12-of-23 shooting, but it was not enough to steal a game on the road vs. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the rest of the defending NBA champion Lakers. The No. 8 Warriors will face the No. 9 Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.

By looking at Curry sitting on the Warriors bench here, you know it is not all bad for Golden State.

Golden State may be Curry and a bunch of guys, but the Warriors will be favored over the Grizzlies in the win-or-go-home scenario on Friday night. The winner of that game in San Francisco will become the No. 8 seed in the 2021 NBA Playoffs and will face the top-seeded Utah Jazz in the first round. The loser’s season will be done and into the 2021 NBA Draft lottery they will go.

Overall, what we have seen out of Curry in the second half of this season has been remarkable. We now know that he can carry a struggling team on his back and into the postseason. The best part in all of this is Curry’s game will age gracefully into his mid-to-late 30s. With the right supporting cast around him, maybe the Warriors can win another title or two before Curry calls it a career?

For now, Curry and Golden State have to get ready for a feisty Grizzlies team on Friday night.
