Superstar point guard Chris Paul has gone down with what looks to be a concerning injury against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Awful news has arrived for the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of their Western Conference playoffs showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers. In the second quarter, star point guard Chris Paul went down after taking a vicious shot to his head/face.

Paul, hoping to lead Phoenix over LeBron James and LA, was in serious pain down on the hardwood. The entire Suns bench circled around Paul as he was on the ground. He’s since been taken to the locker room and things don’t look good here.

NBA Playoffs: Chris Paul goes down with concerning injury

Without Paul, the Suns chances of beating the defending NBA champions would be tough. Thankfully, it looks like that might not have to be the case.

The Lakers are the lower-seeded team, but are arguably favored to move on thanks to the return of James and his pairing with Anthony Davis. Fresh off beating the Warriors to cement their spot in the playoffs, the Lakers appear to be on a mission.

The Suns, however, even without Paul are a formidable foe. The likes of Devin Booker and a bevy of young talent hope to prove it’s their time to take over the NBA.
