Dallas Cowboys: PK Mike Vanderjagt (2006)

It would prove to be head coach Bill Parcells final season on the sidelines. Dallas finished 9-7 and ‘06 ended with a stunning 21-20 wild card loss at Seattle. That year, the team added veteran Mike Vandejagt in an attempt to bring stability to the special teams. He had hit on 87.5 percent of his field goal attempts in eight seasons with the Colts. With the Cowboys, he connected on just 13-of-18 three-pointers in 10 games and was released in late November.

Denver Broncos: CB Dale Carter (1999)

The team was coming off back-to-back Super Bowl titles but things would change without John Elway. In 1999, the club looked to boost its defense in adding former Chiefs’ four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Dale Carter. He totaled 30 takeaways in seven seasons with Kansas City and finished with 72 tackles and two picks with the Broncos. But he missed all of 2000 after violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy and his time with the team came to an end.

Detroit Lions: DE Trey Flowers (2019)

In 1994, the franchise inked former Dolphins’ quarterback Scott Mitchell to a big deal. He had his ups and downs, mostly in the postseason. But the recent addition of Trey Flowers has not lived up to a five-year, $90 million contract. In two seasons, Trey Flowers has totaled nine sacks in 22 games. He missed the final nine games a year ago and now via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, will transition to outside linebacker in the team’s new 3-4.
