In a tough loss to the San Francisco Giants, star slugger Albert Pujols blasted career home run No. 670.

While the Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a disappointing 5-4 loss at the hands of the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon, it wasn’t all bad news for the club. Albert Pujols was able to put a smile on fan’s faces who made their way to the stadium.

With the club down 5-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, and a runner on first base, Pujols got a pitch in his wheel house and sent it out of the park for a two-run blast. In his legendary career, the future Hall-of-Famer has now hit 670 bombs.

That right there was a true no-doubter from Pujols. The moment he made contact with the ball, everyone in LA knew that baby was leaving the field. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, the Pujols jack wasn’t enough to help the team record an epic late comeback, as San Francisco left the stadium with a big-time win.

For Pujols, it indeed was his 670th career dinger. He’s now 26 homers away from tying Alex Rodriguez for No. 4 on the all-time list at 696. Pujols of course is No. 5 on that list. Those kinds of home runs are exactly what Dodgers fans were hoping to see once it was announced the team had signed him.

After the Angels released Pujols, the Dodgers jumped in to land him, despite Cardinals fans hoping a reunion would have gone down. Look for Pujols to keep coming up with some timely hits for the Dodgers throughout the rest of the campaign. We’ll see how close he can get to Rodriguez by season’s end.
