Houston Astros fans booed Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora because of course they did.

Oh, how the turntables have turned here with Houston Astros fans booing Boston Red Sox skipper Alex Cora upon his return to the place where he used to work a few years ago.

Cora was on the coaching staff of the infamous 2017 Astros team that stole signs en route to winning its first World Series championship. He was initially let go by the Red Sox after the scandal first surfaced in 2020. Cora was brought back this season, and with there now being fans in the stands, you better believe Astros fans booed him during Boston’s lone trip to Houston this year.

It was so strange, but totally expected, as it has been with anything related to the 2017 Astros.

Both AL clubs entered play on Memorial Day 1.5 games back of first place in their respective divisions. Boston is trying to keep pace with the defending AL champion Tampa Bay Rays, while the Astros are looking up at the Oakland Athletics in the AL West race. They will be among a handful of teams who will vie for postseason berths all summer long in the American League.

While Boston has found itself once again under Cora, the Astros continue to be one of the most consistent teams in the American League under skipper Dusty Baker. There is a chance we could see these two teams meet in October. Whether that is in the AL Wild Card game, the ALDS or even the ALCS remains to be seen. All we know is that booing will be part of the entire spectacle here.

Cora is probably going to be booed in every American League venue he visits this MLB season.
