Matt Leinart led the Trojans during an era that they were the biggest stars in Los Angeles. Leinart threw for over 10,000 yards with 99 touchdowns. He twice led the Pac-12 in passing touchdowns and efficiency while leading once in completions, passing yards and completion percentage. Leinart was a two-time All-American and National Champion while also winning the 2004 Heisman, Walter Camp and Johnny Unitas Awards. He finished sixth in the 2003 Heisman voting and third in 2005. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart are the answer to a good trivia question. Why did NFL quarterback Matt Cassel never start a game in college? Because he backed up Palmer and Leinart. Palmer threw for over 11,000 yards with 72 touchdowns as a Trojan. He twice led the Pac-12 in completions and completion percentage while leading once in passing touchdowns and efficiency. Palmer was an All-American in 2002 while winning the Heisman and Johnny Unitas Awards.
Rodney Peete might be better known today for being on TV and married to actress Holly Robinson Peete, but he was a helluva quarterback in his day. As a Trojan, he threw for over 8000 yards with 54 touchdowns. He was an All-American and won the Johnny Unitas Award in 1988.
The USC trio threw for over 30,000 yards with 225 touchdowns, two Heismans, two National Championships and one induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
