5. Stanford

Jim Plunkett overcame a lot to become a great quarterback. And great he was. He threw for over 7800 yards with 53 touchdowns from 1968-1970, a time when yards and touchdowns weren’t nearly as high as they are today. He led the then Pac-8 three times in completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns while leading twice in completion percentage and once in efficiency. He also led the NCAA in completions and passing yards once. In 1970 Plunkett was an All-American and won the Heisman, Walter Camp and Maxwell Awards.

John Elway threw for over 9,000 yards with 77 touchdowns. He led the conference in completions and passing yards three times, passing touchdowns and completion percentage twice while leading once in efficiency. He led the NCAA in passing touchdowns once. Elway was a 1982 All-American and is in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Andrew Luck’s time on the Farm is well documented and decorated.  Luck threw for over 9,400 yards with 82 touchdowns. He led the Pac-12 three times in efficiency, twice in completion percentage and once each in passing yards and touchdowns. Luck was an All-American in 2010 and 2011 while winning the 2011 Walter Camp and Maxwell Awards.  He was the Heisman runner-up in both 2010 and 2011.

The Cardinal trio threw for over 26,000 yards with 212 touchdowns, one Heisman and two inductions into the College Football Hall of Fame.
