Alabama and Arizona are getting their 2021 Women’s College World Series journeys started by facing each other Thursday evening. The Wildcats and the Crimson Tide both have plenty of history in Oklahoma City as they’ve now made a combined 37 appearances in the Women’s College World Series.

Alabama has been great throughout the entirety of the 2021 NCAA Softball season. At 50-7, Alabama has shown it can beat just about anyone. Arizona hasn’t won quite as many games as Alabama has this season, but the Wildcats haven’t been slacking off. At 41-13, this team is still really, really dangerous.

Here’s what you need to know to be able to watch Alabama and Arizona face off.

The Crimson Tide came to Oklahoma City with an 18-game winning streak and Alabama is looking to build upon it in its quest to win its second national championship during its 13th trip to the Women’s College World Series.

While it’s been fourteen seasons since Arizona has won a national championship, the Wildcats have a shot at claiming their ninth national title this season.

Both of these teams are well-rounded and complete, but the two teams win in very different ways. Alabama relies more upon its fantastic pitchers and less upon its bats to get a win while Arizona manages to ride a ton of home runs to victory.

Alabama’s duo of Montana Fouts and Lexi Kilfoyl have routinely struck out opposing batters, combining for 432 strikeouts, while Arizona’s Alyssa Denham, Hanah Bowen, and Mariah Lopez have combined for 250 strikeouts. Arizona’s batters have managed to mash 94 home runs this season while Alabama has only hit 34.

The two teams are very different, but they’re both very successful. Get to ESPN tonight to see the two meet up.
