2. Markieff Morris

Markiefff Morris joined the Lakers midway through the 2019-20 season after he was bought out of his contract by the Detroit Pistons. Unsurprisingly, the Lakers pursued him and signed him to a deal for the remainder of the season. It paid dividends, as Morris won his first NBA title.

Morris played throughout the majority of this season, where he started in 27 of 61 games. The forward averaged 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.5 percent from the field. Morris appeared in most of Los Angeles’ first-round series against the Suns, and he even earned the start in Game 5 with Anthony Davis ruled out with a left groin strain.

Unfortunately, in just 10 minutes of playing time, Morris scored 4 points while shooting 1-for-2 from the field and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line. He had a plus/minus of minus-13.

Los Angeles’ power forward position is led by Davis, but with him having an injury-riddled campaign, the team needs to improve the depth. That could very well make Morris expendable during free agency.
