DraftKings U.S. Open picks 2021: Best PGA DFS lineup for Torrey Pines
Best DraftKings PGA DFS lineups for the 2021 U.S. Open
While it would certainly be reasonable to just construct one DraftKings U.S. Open lineup that I believe will pay off, there are more ways than that to come out on top. Thus, we’re going through three different types of lineup construction and looking at what can be done with those on this major championship PGA DFS slate.
Stars and Scrubs
- Jon Rahm ($11,200)
- Rory McIlroy ($9,900)
- Patrick Cantlay ($9,100)
- Cameron Young ($6,800)
- Richard Bland ($6,600)
- Paul Barjon ($6,300)
Any time you use the stars and scrubs approach, the risk is going to increase. This lineup in particular tries to somewhat mitigate that by not going with two players in the $10,000 range and instead with just one, Rahm, along with two $9,000 range golfers. Still, you have to feel confident in the cheap plays to go with this approach.
Mid-Tier Load-Up
- Viktor Hovland ($9,200)
- Patrick Cantlay ($9,100)
- Corey Conners ($8,200)
- Louis Oosthuizen ($8,100)
- Matthew Fitzpatrick ($7,800)
- Jason Kokrak ($7,600)
The floor of this mid-tier lineup feels extremely high, which could make it a great approach if you’re entering a cash game. Having said that, what I like about this lineup is that there’s also plenty of upside. We’ve seen all six of these golfers win, albeit not at the U.S. Open, and the whole group has the talent to win this event.
My Ideal DraftKings Lineup
- Jon Rahm ($11,200)
- Viktor Hovland ($9,200)
- Louis Oosthuizen ($8,100)
- Jason Kokrak ($7,600)
- Stewart Cink ($7,200)
- Richard Bland ($6,600)
Frankly, not having a heavy dose of Rahm, even with his price, feels irresponsible. This feels perfect for him to get his first major and he’s worth every penny. So to be able to limit risks outside of Bland in the $6,000 range while also getting the favorite to win the U.S. Open gives me a ton of confidence in this lineup.
